Each dive is ascribed a code number, as described below:

4 Character Dive Numbers, starting with 1-4, eg 203C
First digit: the direction of rotation
1 (eg: 101B) Forward dive, performed by moving forward down the board, initiating the dive after a hurdle. Somersaults may then be performed in a forward direction.
2 (eg: 201B) Back dive, performed by standing at the end of the board with the diver’s back toward the water and initiating the dive backward, away from the board.
3 (eg: 301B) Reverse dive, performed by moving forward down the board, initiating the dive after a hurdle. Somersaults may be performed rotating backward, with the head moving back toward the board.
4 (eg: 401B) Inward dive, performed by standing at the end if the board with the diver’s back toward the water and initiating the dive inward, toward the board.
Second digit: initial position of flight
0 (eg: 103B) Unspecified position. This is most common.
1 (eg: 113B) Flying dive, where the first portion of the dive is in a straight, or flying, position.
Third digit: somersaults
(eg: 303B) The number of half somersaults to be performed.
Last character: position
A (eg: 103A) Straight position.
B (eg: 103B) Pike position, knees straight, bending at the hip.
C (eg: 103C) Tuck position, bending at both the knees and the hip.
